Espaanglisch Mission

Espaanglisch offers inexpensive language classes using native English speakers to benefit the poorest economic areas of Trujillo, Peru. This program is aimed at giving those previously unable to afford language classes a chance to learn a new language. In doing so Espaanglisch allows for the fostering of new skills and opportunities in both their students and the community as a whole.

Espaanglisch Language School

muralEspaanglisch Language School provides free classes to children and free to low cost classes to adults from the poorest neighborhoods of Trujillo (the third largest city in Peru). We use native volunteer instructors giving our students a learning opportunity they could not otherwise afford.

Espaanglisch needs to exist in Trujillo for two reasons: one, due to the lack of high quality education for Peruvians; the majority of whom live in poverty: two, the growing importance of a foreign language as part of one's skills. Trujillo is a city in the upswing of the development process. However, only those at the upper end of the economic scale are benefiting. Our aim is to help those at the lower end of the economic scale by providing them with quality language classes and in turn opportunities for growth.

skipDepending on which classes one is teaching (adults or children) volunteers either work on-site at the language school (Espaanglisch), or off-site in El Porvenir at partner organization, SKIP Peru. Both locations are in Trujillo.

Espaanglisch currently offers three types of classes: free Basic English Classes for Children (at SKIP Peru in El Porvenir), free Basic English Classes for Adults/Youth (at Espaanglisch), and low cost Gringlish Conversation Classes (at Espaanglisch).
