We need books for our schools

Submitted by davidmercedes on July 18, 2008 - 4:11pm.

Dear volunteer,

Espaanglisch is in need of textbooks to teach English as a second language for adults and children so that our school can improve the lessons we provide in and around Trujillo, Chimbote-Peru. With better textbooks, our students will benefit more from these lessons. Espaanglisch School does not ask a fee of our volunteer teachers; however, we would greatly appreciate donations of textbooks or school supplies. If you are able and/or willing to donate textbooks, we need the following*:

New books for espaanglisch

Submitted by davidmercedes on June 27, 2008 - 12:01pm.

From the bottom of my heart. Muchas Gracias!

Muy atentamente,                                                                                    david mercedes

Agradecimiento Especial

Tu amigo David.

Used Clothes Drive for Peru's Rural Poor

Submitted by davidmercedes on October 24, 2007 - 1:47pm.

In cooperation with the non profit Puentes, Espaanglisch has organized a used clothes drive to benefit rural regions of Northern Peru. These areas suffer from severe poverty and poor contact with the outside world. Puentes is an American organization that develops long term educational, environmental and health programs in cooperation with local authorities and Peruvian non profits.

Volunteers and visitors to Trujillo and Huanchaco are encouraged to bring clothing items with them from their home countries. All they need to do is contact Espaanglisch Manager David Mercedes at davidmercedes@espaanglisch.com or Puentes director Ann Drazkowski at Drazkowski@gmail.com or to advise them and they will guide you through the process.

Even if you can only bring a couple of items it makes a difference. The cold rains of the winter and the dangerous insects of the summer make clothing a constant need in the Mountains outside of Trujillo. David and Ann both urge you to contact us if you are interested or if you wish to help by other means, there are a number of things that are needed in Trujillo and its surroundings.

Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you!
