Most volunteers arrive in Lima and stay at least one night before taking a bus to Trujillo. If you are looking for a hassle free arrival to Lima, Espaanglisch can provide an airport pick up service, which involves someone waiting for you at the airport and escorting you to your hotel, bus terminal or wherever you want to go. The cost is 50 soles for one person (approx.$16US) or 35 soles each for more than one person, plus the cost of the taxi (which guaranteed will be considerably cheaper if arranged by a Peruvian than a tourist!) If you are interested in this service please let us know in advance of your arrival.  

Arriving to Trujillo by bus:

Lima to Trujillo takes approximately 9 hours, from Chiclayo, 3 hours, and from the border with Ecuador (Tumbes), about 9 hours.

Direct buses run from these locations to Trujillo both throughout the day and overnight. Buses are completely safe, however it is recommended to keep your belongings onboard with you, on your lap or as close as possible. Bus prices range from 20 soles to 100 soles, depending on what level of comfort you are looking for. If arriving from Lima, Cruz del Sur, TRC, and Linea are a few recommended companies to go with.

Once in Trujillo you can take a taxi to Espaanglisch (see address above). There is no central bus terminal in Trujillo so depending on which bus company you arrive with, a taxi will cost between 3-6 soles.

Arriving to Trujillo by plane:

LAN Peru and Star Peru are two airlines that fly to Trujillo, with LAN Peru being the more reliable.

The airport is outside of Trujillo and a taxi will cost approximately 12-18 soles.
